In the following I will speak about the movement, both horizontal and vertical internal and external of the SALT LAKE CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY located in Utah in the United States.
This library, opened in February of 2003, can store up to 500000 books and other materials, this library has shops and services, reading areas, galleries and an auditorium seating 300 people. on the top floor has a gaden area wich is pedestrian access or elevators and from which you can see a 360 degree view of the salt lake valley.
In the horizontal circulation of the whole, we can see that we have different entries for which we can access to the library, the most direct is that found by Rosa Parks Boulevard, which allows us a front view of the whole and is accessed linearly without need for vertical movement, the second entrance can be for university boulevard which allows us to access all of the back area where they would be green areas, alongside this is an amphitheater and from which we can have an overview of building with glass walls allowing us to see into the library reading rooms, and finally we can access from the street S 300 E and which gives a linear input to the set going through the green areas.
Exploring the building we can see that this has horizontal circulation on all floors, giving us a sequence and that this building contains a central opening through which you can get an overview of the complex and allowing entry of light, this perimetrial circulation runs horizontal all floors and all sites and at the end point to the side with which species of bridges connecting one side by side.
As for the vertical circulation we see that this happens at specific points of the building, right in the middle open so you can see the vertical circulation as an important event on which to be passing on this, we can see the entire set. Likewise the case with panoramic elevators which are to allow the entire view of the whole.
In my opinion, is a spatially rich building which has several different access points to allow access to the entire community it serves, and also allows your entire travel by visitors to this idea of perimeter route and bridges in some cases, it seems to me that the site is very nice because people can have a full view of the assembly and located easily.
